COMMITMENT. COMPASSION. COMMUNITY.

“As a lifelong resident, I cherish what is strong about Ann Arbor: our values. I care about the wellbeing of everyone in our community and I will fight for those of us who struggle to flourish in our city.”

"The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned." - Maya Angelou

I am one of those lucky people who get to say that they live in the city where they were born. I am even luckier to be able to say that my hometown is Ann Arbor.

Thank you for your support!

Although I have had the privilege to call Ann Arbor home for decades, as a Black woman, it hasn’t always been easy. I am deeply committed to all that is vibrant and beautiful about this town, and equally committed to helping Ann Arbor accomplish what it must to make it a more inclusive space for all.

I first got involved with local issues over 20 years ago, where I focused on learning about schools and the local justice system in an effort to keep my sons from becoming statistics in the school-to-prison pipeline.  That led me to early involvement with grassroots efforts after the killing of Aura Rain Rosser: focusing on police oversight, community engagement, and beneficial outcomes. When George Floyd was murdered in 2020, that was a wake-up call for me: the only way this city will truly work for everyone is if truly everyone is involved.

These are the reasons I deceived to run for City Council in Ward One. I want to do my part in making Ann Arbor better for historically marginalized communities because I know a city that works for people who struggle, works for everyone. During my time in office, I will focus on representing my family, my community, and my city, informed by my personal experiences, in the service of a more just, more inclusive future.
